Loft boarding and wooden ladder on St Mary's Island, Chatham
A raised storage platform, wooden loft ladder and loft light in a trussed roof on St Mary's Island, Chatham.
The job
A modern home on St Mary's Island in Chatham, with a trussed roof and insulation right across the loft.
We built a raised platform in the clear space between the trusses, lifted above the insulation so it is not squashed. A wooden loft ladder folds down from the existing hatch, which opens with a pole from the landing, and a strip light at the apex lights the whole platform.
